Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These terms govern your use of the Timbuktu Bookstore website and your purchase of books, stationery, and other items from us. By placing an order or creating an account, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Timbuktu Bookstore is a bookshop based in Juba, South Sudan, selling books and related products online for delivery within Juba and the wider East Africa region. You can reach us at hello@timbuktubooks.com or on WhatsApp at +211 923 999 505.
2. Accounts
You need an account to place an order. Account sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. We don't ask you to store a password with us directly — see our Privacy Policy for details on how sign-in works.
3. Orders and pricing
Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout and are subject to change without notice; the price charged is the one shown at the time you complete your order. Placing an order is an offer to buy, which we accept when we confirm and prepare your order for delivery. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item turns out to be unavailable, if we suspect fraud, or if delivery isn't possible to your address.
Administrator accounts are not permitted to place customer orders through the storefront.
4. Payment
Cash on Delivery is currently our only payment method: you pay in cash when your order is delivered. We don't collect card details or process online payments on this site. This may change in the future — if it does, this page will be updated.
5. Delivery
We currently deliver within Juba and, on request, to other locations in South Sudan and East Africa. Delivery timelines quoted on the site (for example, "24 hours within Juba") are estimates, not guarantees. We'll contact you by phone or WhatsApp using the details you provide at checkout to arrange delivery.
6. Cancellations and returns
You can cancel an order yourself from your Order History while it's still Pending. Once an order has moved to Paid or Fulfilled, contact us directly to discuss cancellation, exchange, or return — we'll handle these on a case-by-case basis, particularly for items damaged in delivery.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use the site to attempt fraudulent orders, to interfere with its operation (including attempting to bypass rate limits or automate bulk requests), or to violate any applicable law. We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that do.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
